Known Problems and Work-Arounds
The following pages describe issues and work-arounds for version 6.0.
For additional troubleshooting information, refer to the Troubleshooting
section beginning on page 51 in Installation.
Many common problems are fixed by patches to the operating system, to
HP OpenView Network Node Manager, and to the Emanate SNMP
agent. Consequently, you should verify that your system has the required
patches for NetMetrix. Refer to the file /doc/req_patches.txt on the
NetMetrix CD-ROM for details.
General
Description Installation fails on HP-UX 10.x system when transition links are
not installed.
Details The NetMetrix installation for HP-UX 10.x relies on the transition sym-
bolic links, which are normally present on the system. If the transition
links have been removed, the NetMetrix installation will fail.

Work-Around If necessary, install the transition links prior to installing NetMetrix.
Description Installation fails with message: “netmd cannot fork, exit code=2”
Details If you install the Extended RMON Module (Mid-Level Manager or MLM
fileset), the installation will register the ERM and attempt to start it. If
the host system does not have sufficient memory and/or swap space to
start the ERM, the following message is shown repeatedly:
