the network statistics will be understated. If you wish to monitor full-

duplex network connections such as those between a switch and a server,

we recommend the HP J3458A Fast Ethernet LanProbe Option 201 that

is speciﬁcally designed for this purpose.

Work-Around Installing the Standard, Option 200 or Option 202 half-duplex probe on a

full-duplex port can result in incorrect and incomplete statistics when

auto-negotiation is used. For example, if the switch port is set to full-

duplex, the Standard, Option 200 or Option 202 half-duplex probe will

still auto-negotiate to full-duplex. This will result in understated utiliza-

tion statistics since the probe can only see part of the whole communca-

tion. To avoid this, care should be taken to set up the switch port for half-

duplex communication so that network statistics will be correct. In par-

ticular, when using conversation steering, select a ﬁxed link speed which

corresponds to the speed of the original network.

Protocol Distribution Application

Description The Protocol Distribution application does not work

Details The slices in the pie graphs drawn by the Protocol Distribution applica-

tion are not labeled, which means that although the graphs show the

protocol breakdown, you will not be able to determine what protocol each

slice represents. [Defect ID 0804–023952]
