Configuring T1 Controller Settings
To configure T1 controller settings, do the following in controller configuration mode:

To configure E1 controller settings, perform the following tasks in controller configuration mode:

Configure the cable length setting by doing one of the following:
router(config-ctrl)# cablelength
short {133 | 266 | 399 | 533 |

Configure the cable length if the length is 655 feet or shorter.
router(config-ctrl)# cablelength
long {gain26 | gain36} {-15db |
-22.5db | -7.5db | 0db}
Configure the cable length if the length is longer than 655 feet.

{sf | esf}
Configure the DS1 link framing format. Extended SuperFrame
format (esf) is required for ATM traffic.

{ami | b8zs}
Configure the line encodingformat for theDS1 link.The b8zssetting is
required for ATM traffic.

router(config-ctrl)# no shutdown
Activate the T1 controller.

router(config-ctrl)# exit
Exit controller configuration mode.

Exit configuration mode.

Verify the controller configuration.

Configure the E1 framing format. If the trunk will be connected to a
device in Australia, enter the australia option.

Configure the E1 line encoding format. The hdb3 setting is required for
ATM traffic.

Activate the E1 controller.

Exit controller configuration mode.
